Welcome to Intermediate Intervention! This is my eighteenth year teaching at Jamaica and I am really excited for another great year.
I am originally from New York. I am from a small town calledWellsville (nowhere near NYC, but only an hour away from Niagara Falls!).I do not miss the snow or cold one bit, but I do miss my family and friends. They are only a plane ride away—and now they use my home as a vacation spot!
Before I moved to Havasu, I taught part-time as a first gradeinclusion teacher in the Rochester City School District and took my Masters full time at SUNY Brockport—it was a busy year. Later that year I went to a recruitment fair and interviewed with LakeHavasu--I decided to accept a teaching position two weeks later and I have been here ever since. I love our school and am invested in our district. I was named as LHUSD District Teacher of the Year in 2020, as well as Mohave County. I am PROUD to be a teacher at Jamaica Elementary School!
In January 2013, I got married and became Mrs. Montes (formerly Miss Priolette). We had our first child in October 2014, a handsome little boy named Roman. We had our second child in January 2017, another cute little boy named Matthew. They keep us very busy and they love to play superheros, dance, laugh, and read books together!
Some of my favorite things include: watching Roman and Matthew do just about anything, sunny weather, reading, watching movies, decorating, and spending time with my friends and family.
Welcome to our home of learning. Sit back, relax, and learn! I hope you come into our class each day saying, "Home sweet classroom!"
